A Place for Community
Welcome to our community. Look around and check out the links, catch up on the news or chat with the rest of the citizens of our community in the forums.
If you are returning you will notice some changes taking place here. The virtual stip malls are gone and we are considering what other directions we need to take. Dallas Bay Networks exists as a hobby in that no profit is turned on this endeavor. Everything here is a part of an education for the businesses that we are in to make a profit. A big part of that education is to find out what you want out of a website. With the introduction of residential broadband services we are seeing a need for an education in security so we hope to take a portion of this website in that direction. We'll see.
Newsfeeds Page
I'm playing with XML newsfeeds from Moveover Technologies and I have set up a page for prototyping what I'm working with. It seems handy enough so I've put it here and a more extensive list of feeds that take about 30 seconds or more to load is located here.
Gates Genealogy
I'm putting up some family genealogy pages that I'm putting links to on this page until I can get the information of how to directly get to the pages out to the family. The first section is for the Gates' Family which has no known connection to the Bill Gates family. I'm still working on it so don't look for much there for a while.
Wanted Roller Hockey Players
Roller Hockey is alive and kickin' in Hamilton County. Currently there is a 15 & under and a 12 & under league looking for more players. Other age groups are possible with interest. Check into it at Sanctuary Skate Park and check back to this site for more exciting details coming soon.
Justin's Journal
Justin's Journal has just had a comment system installed. Want to talk back or see what others are saying about Justin and his friends view on things? Just click on the comment link for the entry.
Geocaching
Geocaching has made its way to our area with two caches being established in the North Chickamaugua Pocket Wilderness area. Got a GPS? Go try to find the caches. Just do one thing for me, please. On your way back out take some of the trash out with you. We can make it a cleaner place if we all just pack out a little of what others were inconsiderate enough to leave behind.
What is this all about?
What's this website all about? That's a good question. Basically it's about community. I live in an area of Hamilton Co., Tennessee called Dallas Bay. Europeans have lived around here since the end of the American Revolution while Indigenous Americans have lived in this area for who knows how long. The area has family roots going back over 200 years and has openly accepted new folks as they move in. People here know each other and care about their neighbors.
It's that sense of community I'd like to extend to this website. You don't have to be a resident of the area to become a part of this online community, all you have to do is participate. The forum section is here for you to participate in and experience being part of a community. The virtual strip mall is here to support the community from a financial standpoint. The history section is here to let people know a little about the real Dallas Bay. To come, I hope, is the Dallas Bay Gazette, a virtual newspaper with news items from all over.
If there is something else I can add to this website that will make you feel more at home, please tell me, I'll add what I can that you want.
